personal books

Last year was a low in terms of my readings. In the beginning of the year, I tried to make a proactive list for books that I will read which seems to have helped a little. Here is what I read in 2023:

  1. Lifespan: Why We Ageā€•and Why We Don't Have To
  2. The Bangalore Detectives Club
  3. Foundation
  4. Rendezvous with Rama
  5. The Inner Game of Tennis
  6. Ways of Seeing
  7. How to Take Smart Notes
  8. How the Marquis Got His Coat Back
  9. A Guide to the Good Life: The Ancient Art of Stoic Joy
  10. Rest: Why You Get More Done When You Work Less
  11. Emotional: How Feelings Shape Our Thinking
  12. The Torrents of Spring
  13. How to build a low-tech internet
  14. Driven to Distraction (Revised): Recognizing and Coping with Attention Deficit Disorder
  15. Manto and Chughtai: The Essential Stories
  16. An Elegant Puzzle: Systems of Engineering Management
  17. Ubik

Highlighted items have been my favorites for the year.

I made a list of 20 books to read in the beginning. And I thought I will add more and end up reading 30+ in total. But from the original list of 20, I only read 4. The additional list was 29 books, out of which I read 13.

While I didn't get to my target, I am overall satisfied with readings this year. I got a lot of books, read interesting ones, and generally spent good time thinking about ideas from my readings. I will follow a similar approach in 2024 too.
